SameGuyCheck was born out of a moment that changed everything not for clicks or clout, but because one of our closest friends almost got engaged to a man living a double life.
It started with a photo. A friend texted us, asking if we thought the guy she’d been seeing looked familiar. He had no social media, a vague job title, and refused video calls. We reverse searched the image out of instinct and what came back stopped us cold.
The same photo appeared in multiple dating app profiles… under different names, in different states. Worse, we found screenshots of him posted in Are we dating same guy groups with comments from other women saying he’d ghosted them, stolen money, or even lied about being divorced. But our friend had no idea. No one had warned her. No app had flagged him. And Facebook? It was impossible to search the groups without joining, asking, and risking backlash.
That night, the idea for SameGuyCheck was born.
We realized there were tools scattered everywhere reverse image search here, sketchy background check sites there, rumors in Facebook groups. But no unified way to run a fast, private, targeted scan designed specifically for women trying to protect themselves in dating.
So we built it.

We’re not backed by venture capital. We didn’t launch with press coverage. We self-funded and built this tool in nights and weekends, working alongside moderators, survivors, and data professionals who believed the current dating safety landscape wasn’t built for women it was built for platforms.
